MLB.com has launched a pretty sick idea for the All-Star Game in Anaheim. They've set up campaigns for players, in order to help them gain votes and support.
From MLB.com:
Join a campaign
As the 2010 MLB All-Star Game races heat up, it's more important than ever to endorse your favorite players in MLB.com's All-Star Game balloting. Support your favorite stars' campaigns by encouraging friends, family and co-workers to vote, as you strive to earn the status of "Campaign Manager" for your most-liked players.
How it works
After voting, you'll be presented with the option to join a campaign to spread the word to vote via Facebook or e-mail. By joining a campaign, you'll score the following points as you move up the ranks of a player's online campaign staff:
- 25 points just for joining a campaign
- 25 points for every person you get to vote for that player
- 1 pt for each vote you make or help generate for that player
Your campaign status changes daily based on your success:
- No. 1 points earner
- Campaign Manager
- No. 2 points earner
- Deputy Campaign Manager
- No. 3 points earner
- Assistant Campaign Manager
- 500 points
- Senior Campaign Coordinator
- 350 points

Pretty cool idea huh? Well for me, I'm campaigning for Nick Swisher (if you couldn't tell), one of my favorite Yankees. With Robinson Cano and Derek Jeter, two of my favorite Yankees, pretty much guaranteed positions on the All-Star team as starters, I'm campaigning for Swish to get a starting outfield role. Swish is a great guy and one of my favorite Yankees. He's enjoying a great season, batting a career high .293 with 11 HR and 42 RBI, and should be noticed for the All-Star Team. Please help us make Nick Swisher an All-Star! Or you can campaign for your own favorite player here.
Enjoy!
