New York Yankees vs New York Mets, Game 1: Subway Series, Round 1 @ Citi Field

Ah, inter-league...
Another year, another Subway Series. Welcome to Round 1 as the Yankees vs Mets in the battle for New York's crown. You know the story this year, same as 2009. The Yankees, off to a good start and over .500 at 25-16, 2nd place in the AL East, come into the series with their best pitchers. The Mets, like last year, are below .500 at 20-22, last place in the NL East. Last year, the series began at Yankee Stadium. This year, we'll kick things off at Citi Field, as we'll see Javier Vazquez take the mound for the Bombers and Hisanori Takahashi for the Mets. Last year at Citi Field, the Yankees swept the Mets after winning 2 of 3 previously at Yankee Stadium, declaring the Yanks the winners of the Subway Series
5 games to 1.

I love inter-league. Since being introduced in the league in 1997, interleague baseball has been a great way to allow fans to see teams in different leagues that they normally wouldn't see. However, Yankees vs Mets tops all other rivalries in interleague. The two big market teams in the mecca state of baseball battling it out for bragging rights in the city. Why's it the best? They've got the best players: two premier shortstops in Derek Jeter, captain of the Yankees, and Jose Reyes, speedster for the Mets. Two of baseball's best third baseman in Alex Rodriguez and David Wright play here. You've got the runner up MVP in Mark Teixeira and the up-and-coming star in Ike Davis. And then, you've got the aces, CC Sabathia and Johan Santana. Two of the best left handed starting pitchers in baseball. Did we mention the two best closers in the game in K-Rod and Mariano Rivera? You gotta love it.

Will tonight be another repeat of last year for the Mets? Will last night's big win motivate them? Will the Yankees sweep the Mets this weekend, especially after coming off a recent 3 game losing streak? How will Javier Vazquez pitch after 9 days off? Tonight will tell the story! Yankees vs Mets tonight at 7:05!

For those of you who forgot this happened last year (Enjoy, Mets fans)
