Yankees Notes: Oswalt, Lee, Granderson, Winn & Russo

- As seen on MLBTradeRumors and according to Jon Heyman, the Yankees are reported to NOT be interested in trading for Houston Astros' ace Roy Oswalt. The Yankees, reportedly, are content with their rotation of CC Sabathia, AJ Burnett, Phil Hughes, Andy Pettitte and Javier Vazquez (even though he's struggling). So there goes that prediction...

- According to Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees would prefer to sign Seattle Mariners' ace Cliff Lee as a free agent this off season than rather give up prospects to trade for Oswalt. Makes sense to me. That's what the Yankees did with Johan Santana in 2008. They passed on trading prospects for him (which would've included Phil Hughes) and instead waited until the off season to sign CC Sabathia. We've seen how that's worked out for both sides.

- Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News tweeted that he thinks that the Yankees will designate Randy Winn for assignment to make room for Curtis Granderson when he returns. The Yankees seem to favor Kevin Russo over Winn in left field as the rookie has provided some pop off the bench for the club. However, when Granderson comes back, Russo will go back to being a utility player.
